Three Ways to Work With OSI

You'll work directly with James Whitener - a senior architect who documents everything, explains decisions in plain language, and makes sure your team understands what’s been built and why.

Every engagement begins the same way: with a clear picture of your infrastructure. Before we scope a project or make a recommendation, we need to understand what you actually have. That’s not a formality. It’s the only way we can stand behind the work we do.

HOW TO WORK WITH US

A clear, three-step path from understanding your infrastructure to building and supporting it.

STEP 1

Know exactly what you have before you decide what to do about it.

Infrastructure Assessment

Most IT problems aren’t what they appear to be on the surface. A slow network, a failing application, a recurring outage - these are symptoms. The cause is usually somewhere in the layers underneath.

The Infrastructure Assessment is where every OSI engagement begins. James evaluates your systems directly - hardware, configurations, dependencies, documentation gaps, and risk exposure. This isn’t coordinated through a third party. It’s done by the same person who will do any work that follows, which means the knowledge carries forward into everything we build together.

You get an honest picture of where things stand, what’s at risk, and what the priorities should be. If the right next step is to work with someone else, we’ll tell you that too.

The assessment fee applies toward any subsequent OSI work if you choose to move forward.

What You Get:

Complete infrastructure evaluation across all interdependent layers (not just the obvious problems)

  • Clear picture of risk exposure, including vulnerabilities you may not be aware of

  • Prioritized action plan: what's critical, what's important, what's routine

  • Written recommendations you can hand to any qualified engineer

  • Clear documentation of current state

  • An honest conversation about next steps and whether OSI is the right fit

This Is For You If:

  • You’re making budget decisions and need to know where to actually spend the money

  • You’ve inherited infrastructure nobody fully understands anymore

  • You’ve had recurring problems and want to understand the root cause, not just the latest symptom

  • You’re considering a project and want to make sure you’re solving the right problem

  • You want to make sure any IT partner you bring in truly understands your environment before they touch anything

STEP 2

Infrastructure Projects

Clearly scoped work, built on a foundation we actually understand.

Once we know what you have, we can fix, upgrade, or rebuild it properly. Infrastructure projects with OSI are scoped clearly, executed thoroughly, and documented completely so your team isn’t dependent on us for routine operations once the work is done.We handle equipment replacements, system migrations, new location setups, security implementations - whatever infrastructure work you need done.

What's Included:

  • Complete implementation with thorough testing

  • Documentation in plain language your team can use

  • Knowledge transfer so your team can manage systems

  • Support during transition to normal operations

Common Projects:

  • Network infrastructure upgrades and redesigns

  • Security implementation and hardening

  • System migrations and platform replacements

  • Infrastructure documentation for undocumented systems

  • Disaster recovery planning and testing

  • Email, cloud storage, and productivity platform transitions

Timeline: Varies by project scope. We provide realistic timelines during project planning.

Why Documentation Matters: Every project includes thorough documentation and knowledge transfer. Your team will understand what was done, why decisions were made, and how to manage systems going forward.

Best For: Organizations with specific infrastructure problems to solve or improvements to implement, who want the work done right and want to understand what was built when it’s done.

STEP 3

Senior-level expertise in your corner, without the overhead of a full-time hire.

Ongoing Strategic Support

A flat monthly retainer gives you access to senior-level expertise whenever you need it - strategic planning, troubleshooting, vendor negotiations, budget decisions - without worrying about hourly rates or surprise bills.

What's Included:

  • Strategic guidance on infrastructure decisions

  • Troubleshooting and technical support

  • Vendor evaluation and contract negotiations

  • Infrastructure planning and reviews

  • Documentation updates as your systems change

  • Priority response for urgent issues

How It Works:
Flat monthly fee based on your infrastructure complexity, with no hourly billing or surprise charges.

Most clients move to retainer support after completing a project, once their systems are stable and properly documented.

This Works Best If: Your infrastructure is stable but you need periodic access to someone who understands your environment, knows your history, and can guide decisions without the overhead of a full-time hire.

Not sure where to start?

For most organizations, the answer is the same: start with the Infrastructure Assessment.

Until we understand what you actually have, any other recommendation is a guess.
